2. Verbally reprimanding a child for throwing a temper-tantrum in public.
3. Firing an employee who has been falsifying time sheets.
4. Skipping a daily trip to Starbucks because of bad service the day before
5. "Standing up" a date as a payback for an earlier argument.

Negative punishment involves taking something away.  Verbally reprimanding a child is not taking something away -- it is ADDED to the child's environment.
